BISHOP SKYLSTAD CLARIFIES HIS STATEMENT ON STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS LEGISLATION

Thank you for your support as we move toward resolution of our Chapter 11 process in the Diocese of Spokane.

However, your statement of February 2 contained some inaccuracies, perhaps the result of inaccurate reporting by the secular press.

Some news media have reported that I have agreed to advocate for the elimination of the statutes of limitation both criminally and civilly. This is not true. I have agreed to advocate only for the elimination of the criminal statute, but not the civil statute.

Second, it may have been reported that I have agreed to allow the claimants the authority to appoint two members of the Review Board. This is not true. I have agreed to appoint two new members to the Review Board who are agreeable to the claimants. The board members must first meet my approval before they meet the approval of the claimants.
