For Immediate Release
STATEMENT FROM JIM POST, PRESIDENT OF VOTF,
ON BISHOP O'BRIEN RESIGNATION
The announcement of the decision of Pope John Paul II to accept
the resignation of Bishop Thomas O'Brien of Phoenix, Arizona marks
another step on the road of shame and scandal that has rocked the
Catholic Church for the past eighteen months.
Hit and run accidents are terrible in every case. Bishop O'Brien's
failure to stop and assist Mr. Jim Reed has produced a tragedy for
Mr. Reed's family, FOR Bishop O'Brien's family, and for all Catholics.
Voice of the Faithful wishes to share the prayers and sympathy
of more than 30,000 members with the innocent victims of this terribly
tragic incident.
