Reverend Vere – A Priest of Integrity (continued)

Rev. Vere was part of the first partnership in Canada that consisted of the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, the Roman Catholic Diocese of London, victims, the local victim/witness assistance program and the sexual assault crisis center. Under the name FITA (From Isolation to Action) this partnership sought to forge a dialogue and action plan to assist the victims, to seek an apology from the church and the perpetrators, and to seek ways to lessen and eradicate the scourge of abuse in the diocese and region. 

Rev. Vere is one of triplets! His family included four other boys, all sons, of Francis and Margie Vere. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1987 in the Diocese of London, Ontario, Canada. In addition to his role as pastor, he holds the position of Director of the Ecumenical Office for Inter-religious Dialogue for the Diocese of London, Ontario. Father Vere has served in six parishes, was a founding chaplain for the Catholic Medical Association of Sarnia, Ontario, in 1997, and held the position of Vicar for the Lambton County Deanery from 1995 to 2003. He is currently pastor at St. Justin’s Parish, London, Ontario.
