Letter from John Ryan (continued)

A recent court ruling now permits victims to proceed with litigation against the diocese granting them the due process denied them by their bishop.  In response Bishop Jenky distributed a letter to all parishes castigating the media and the court system for their “intense hatred of the Catholic Church”, and victims’ attorneys for “trying to overturn diocesan policies”

It is the bishop’s ill-chosen policies that now place the diocese at much greater risk of liability.  The church would be better served if he were to accept responsibility rather than deflect the blame on others, thereby further eroding the credibility of church leadership.
