Voice of the
Faithful strongly urges the federal court not to permit bail for the
Rev. Donald McGuire, S.J. McGuire has been found guilty of molesting
two boys in a criminal case, has been charged in additional cases, yet
has continued to travel with and molest young boys despite numerous
efforts to restrict him.
“Nothing is
more important than the safety of children,” said VOTF President
Mary Pat Fox. “Fr. McGuire has demonstrated that he cannot be
trusted. Releasing him would place other children at risk, as it has
done each time McGuire has been free to travel in the past.”
Two law
enforcement agencies – a Wisconsin prosecutor and federal
prosecutors – have filed formal criminal charges against McGuire.
Complaints against McGuire span the decades, according to reports,
beginning in 1969 and again as recently as 2003. It is time for the
courts to put a stop to these repeated offenses.
