Platform Committee on Supporting Survivors and Protecting Children is Looking for Volunteers with SOL Reform Experience (continued)
We have extensive information about the successful legislative campaign conducted in Delaware. However, we recognize that Delaware is a small state with relatively easy access to legislators and had a legislature with particular characteristics that brought about the success. We need information that may be applicable to states having different circumstances.
More specifically we are looking for information about the nature and extent of the following: (1) your strategies and activities and those of the opposition, (2) advocacy materials and messages you and the opposition delivered to legislators, (3) participants in your campaign and the opposition’s campaign, (4) size or number of legislators, (5) margin of political party representation in the legislature, (6) distribution of support and opposition to the legislation among legislators and legislative leadership. (7) reliability and the extent of the commitment the legislative sponsor, cosponsors and legislative supporters of the legislation made to the campaign, (8) visits to legislators by community members and survivors, (9) tactics used by legislators to move or delay the legislation, (10) active support received from opinion leaders and experts, (11) supportive expert testimony used in legislative hearings, meetings, and floor debate, (12) governors support or opposition to the legislation.
