Boston Area VOTF Calling for Extended Listening Session

The Boston Area Council of Voice of the Faithful (BACVOTF) commends the RCAB for following protocol by removing Fr. Barr from ministry and reporting the allegation to legal authorities. We also commend the RCAB Office of Pastoral Outreach for plans to offer a Sept. 9 “listening session” forum to Watertown parishioners.

But don't the parishioners at both parishes need counseling? BACVOTF attempted to obtain information as to whether parishioners from St. Luke’s will be invited to the listening sessions at St. Patrick’s or offered separate sessions. However, the pastor of St. Luke's in Belmont is on vacation until Wednesday and the phone is not being answered at St. Patrick’s. The parishes are not far removed; both are in vicariate 2 of the RCAB West region, under the spiritual guidance of Bishop Walter J. Edyvean.

"Common sense dictates that the RCAB outreach to both of these parishes," said Anne Southwood, BACVOTF chair on Monday.
