Marian Ronan, PhD, to Speak to VOTF on September 10th
Former president of the Women's Ordination Conference Board of Directors, Marian Ronan has been active in efforts to renew the church since the early 1970s. In the 1980s she co-authored three books on feminist theology and spirituality, including Wisdom's Feast: Sophia in Study and Celebration. Her Ph.D. in Religion was awarded by Temple University in Philadelphia.
In her recent book, Tracing the Sign of the Cross: Sexuality, Mourning, and the Future of American Catholicism (Columbia University Press, 2009), Marian reflects on the enormous losses suffered by post-immigrant American Catholics since Vatican II, and on how the path toward a more productive American Catholic future involves working through those losses. Her talk on September 10 will be drawn from those reflections.
Directions to First Congregational Church on the Green in Norwalk can be found on the VOTF website,
www.votfbpt.org. All are welcome to attend.
