Sr. Maureen Sullivan, O.P., Ph.D. Associate Professor, Theology Dept. St. Anselm College, Manchester, NH
In 2012, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of Vatican II, and yet to many it would appear that we have not sufficiently implemented the teachings. The Second Vatican Council is one of the most significant moments in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. It produced 16 documents that touched the very essence of the Catholic faith. This presentation will give an overview of the achievements of Vatican II and indicate the ways in which the Council is still “a work in progress”. Overall, it will invite attendees to “continue the dance” begun by Blessed John XXIII when he announced the call for Vatican II. Everyone is invited. Refreshments will be served. Financial contributions are welcomed.
