Dear Friends,
The blessings of Easter are many and my prayer for each of you is that this
Easter be a time of joy and celebration for you and your family.
When we began this Easter Season Voice of the Faithful launched an action
on “Conscience” as part of our Campaign for Accountability. Each
of us has a responsibility to develop an informed conscience, weighing all
of the facts and different viewpoints. Once we have developed an informed
conscience, we must act upon it if we are to truly be disciples.
There is a beautiful quote that some of you may have seen in the Little
Black Book by the late Bishop Ken Untener: “Being a disciple involves
motion. It means walking with the Lord. It is a verb, not simply a card in
our wallet.
So in what direction are the various parts of my life moving?” Voice
of the Faithful is striving for us as the laity to be true disciples—people
of action—taking on more responsibility within the Church. Over the
last few days you should have received our Spring Appeal highlighting the
need for greater financial accountability within the Church. Much work remains:
We need to further educate the laity on the need for our involvement; we
need to educate the hierarchy on our charisms—our gifts for the church
in terms of time and talent—and to do this we need your financial support.
I hope you will find it in your hearts to be generous.
As we move through the rest of Holy Week, we are reminded of God’s
great love for us. It is because of our love of God and of our Church that
we are part of VOTF.
Keep the Faith, Change the Church,
Blessings,
Mary Pat Fox
