Statement by Barbara Blaine, President of SNAP

“We applaud Lynette Petruska for her courageous work to expose wrong-doing by Catholic officials and her generous work to encourage whistleblowing by church members and staff through this fund.

“The exploitation and harassment of Catholic employees by their supervisors is vastly underreported and largely ignored. This is especially true for female church workers. Through her bravery and tenacity, Lynette has helped shine the light of truth on this aspect of the on-going sexual misconduct and cover up crisis. For that, Catholics should be grateful. We hope that others will follow her lead and take the tough but critical steps needed to safeguard the vulnerable from predatory clerics and callous supervisors.”
