If you had a loaf of bread and a hungry child approached you, most people would give the child some bread. Most hungry people are invisible to us, however – unless you count the man near the road with a “Will work for food” sign. Did you know that $4.50/day is the average food allowance for a person who qualifies for Food Stamps (now called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program)? Could you eat on $4.50 for one day?
