“Martha, burdened with much serving, came to him and said, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me by myself to do the serving? Tell her to help me.’ The Lord said to her in reply, ‘Martha, Martha, you arre anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her.'” (Luke 10: 40-42)
Perhaps this Simple Saturday can be a time to just be; to be with those people who are important to you. It needn’t be a fancy dinner or cost any money. The crucial thing is to pay close attention to the people who cross your path today. Probably some will be family members. But be alert also for the stranger (a store clerk, a passerby), even an enemy (a rude motorist, a person of a different political persuasion) and give him or her your caring attention today.
