There is a reading from Sirach in today’s morning prayer that seems especially apt for St. Joseph on his feast day. “Happy are those who meditate on Wisdom and fix their gaze on knowledge … He will lean on her and not fall; he will trust in her and not be put to shame. Joy and gladness he will find, and an everlasting name he will inherit.”
We know that St. Joseph was a dreamer and a believer. He trusted and obeyed the message of the angel. He was a man of few words but was dependable and strong. He was there with Mary for days while they combed the streets of Jerusalem looking for Jesus. A good man, a good husband, and a good father deserves the inheritance of an everlasting name.
