Role of the Media in the
Catholic Church Crisis

We, the members of Voice of the Faithful, believe that the current crisis in the Catholic Church is the result of crimes by priests against children, and the failure of the hierarchy to deal properly with those crimes. The problem is both one of sexual abuse of children, and a broader institutional failure on a global scale.

The media attention it is receiving is at the appropriate level. Rather than bearing blame for causing, or enlarging the crisis, the media deserve commendation for bringing to light, the terrible acts and secret flawed decisions that have caused such suffering, and damaged our beloved Church. With such exposure, the wound may heal and a better Church emerge.
